612 ABC Breakfast presenter David Iliffe talks to AEIOU Founder Dr James Morton AM about the AEIOU story, why the Queensland government offers so much more funding for early intervention, why teachers need to be better trained to help children with autism in the classroom and why AEIOU needs your support through Take a Hike.
On March 29 2015, an army of men and women in Toowoomba will wake before dawn and set off on a 40 kilometre hike to raise money for an organisation called AEIOU. AEIOU provides critical early intervention for children with Autism.
The foundation was created by Brisbane oncologist Dr James Moreton and his wife Louise back in 2005 to provide the early intervention their own son needed.
Now, ten years on, its the reason why parents in Queensland with children on the spectrum are far better off than those in other states and why so many families with children with autism are packing up and moving here.
